July 26 - 28, 2019 – Williamsburg, VA – “Women of the Peninsula” Conference

The Society for Women and the Civil War (SWCW) will hold its 20th annual conference at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, on 26-28 July 2019. This year’s theme is “Women of the Peninsula”. Activities will include presentations by noted scholars and tours of James River plantations, Jamestowne and Yorktown, emphasizing the roles of these sites in the Peninsula Campaign of the Civil War. The Society for Women and the Civil War is an organization of ladies, gentlemen and children, who are reenactors and living historians, scholars, educators and students, writers, museum and historical site professionals, and others who are interested in civilian life during the Civil War. SWCW is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of women’s roles related to the Civil War through education and scholarship.
