Relive history at the 20th Annual Liendo Plantation Civil War Weekend on November 22-24, 2019 in Hempstead, Texas. An annual living history event held on the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving is the largest Civil War Reenactment in Texas. The Liendo mansion was completed in 1853, the surrounding property became one of Texas’ earliest and most successful cotton plantations. Liendo remained a location of activity during the American Civil War when it served as a Cavalry & Infantry training camp site, an internment camp & even a hospital. Following the war, General George Custer & his men camped on the grounds for several months. Liendo is now recognized as a State & National historic landmark continuing to preserve & share Texas and America’s history.
